Tom Bosworth: British Olympics hopeful comes out as gay

Thomas Stewart “Tom” Bosworth is a competitive race walker who competed for Great Britain at the World Athletic Championships. The 25 year old came out as gay to his fans and to the public but was already out to his team mates, friends and family for years. He has been in a happy relationship for the past four-and-a-half years.

Growing up in Tonbridge he joined his local athletic club when he was just 11 years old. His first year at the athletic club he tried different sports but ended up following his sister and trying race walking. He has been doing it ever since. He won a scholarship in 2009 to study BSc (Hons) Sports Performance at Leeds Metropolitan University and train full time at the National Race Walking Centre.
