He first started in 2007 when he auditioned for The X Factor and made it through bootcamp, then later left when he felt he was too young compared to the other contestants. In 2009 a young Joseph McElderry walked on the stage of the UK X-Factor and blew the audience and the judges away with a song by Luther Vandross called Dance With My Father. He had no prior vocal training before coming on the show. He ended up become the season six winner of the show. Watch his first audition below.

He released “Wide Awake” in 2010 and had a release party held at London’s famous club G-A-Y on October 23, 2010. He later released a Christmas album titled “Classic Christmas” on 28 November 2011, and “Here’s What I Believe” in 2012.

Joseph McElderry was born in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, England on June 16th, 1991 and is the only child of Jim and Eileen McElderry. His singing style is pop and operatic pop. He also is a songwriter and a model.
