Celebrate Black History Month

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?” -Martin Luther King Jr.

February is Black History Month. A month to review the lives of African Americans who were put through a hell they didn’t deserve and to celebrate their life and culture. African Americans are considered minorities- just as homosexuals are. Unfortunately a month to recognize the pain they had to be put through does not mean it’s alright or that they still don’t face racism and homophobia every day. This month on All Male we will be featuring black males who are homosexual and have to deal with the scrutiny and backlash of both. They are strong because they live everyday with the unbearable, unnecessary criticism and hate.

We take a moment for every African American who has ever died due to slavery or racism. We take  moment for the current African Americans who die every day or are hurt in Ferguson and many, other countless police related unjust and violent attacks.

For every homosexual that was followed and beaten up, sexually harassed or killed.  For every homosexual that was kicked out of their home because they had no support from their family.

Our heart goes out to the many suicides that happen each year from the bullying and abuse that causes a person to believe that they can’t go on another day living.

It isn’t anyone of the minority’s fault that they were born into a corrupt society that can’t take people’s value as a person. That they have to live with discrimination, unfair wages and non acceptance into culture. They were born and they should thrive on this planet with those fortunate enough to be born into what the old views of society deems as right.

There is no right, there is no wrong, we are all human, all put here the same way and all deserve the right to live and thrive without being hurt and hurting others.

Keep the fight going for equality. Stay up to date on social justice issues, rallies and protests. Stay informed on political activity and vote to make change. Become a part of political activity. Donate time, money and volunteer for charities making a change. Help people in your everyday life. Never forget the ones who shaped the way for you, who paved a path for change and who fought onwards. Be the next in line. Be the one who molds the world so that everybody may live comfortably.

Black lives matter.
